Our Programs
MNPOC Pride builds with community year-round, well beyond Pride season. Our programs invest in youth leadership, public health, and the everyday resources our communities need to thrive, guided by our belief that we are Always Better Together. Select Read more on any program to learn more.
01 Rainbow Roots: Youth Leadership & Workforce Readiness (Ages 14-24)
Rainbow Roots grows the next generation of leaders through workforce readiness, public health education, leadership development, and real-world experience. Designed for youth and young adults ages 14-24, the program offers hands-on training in resume writing, interview preparation, workplace etiquette, and financial literacy, along with mentorship, stipends, internships, and ambassador opportunities. Participants grow along a clear pathway: Participant, Ambassador, Intern, Community Leader.
02 Tobacco Cessation: Quit Partner
Through Quit Partner outreach, funded by the Minnesota Department of Health, MNPOC Pride brings culturally responsive tobacco and nicotine cessation information and resources directly into community spaces where people already gather. Our youth ambassadors help share accurate information with their peers, and we connect community members who are ready to quit with free, supportive cessation resources.
03 Opioid Awareness & Prevention
Our youth-focused opioid awareness work addresses prevention, stigma reduction, education, and community understanding. Supported by the Minnesota Department of Human Services, MNPOC Pride engages young people in prevention education, Narcan education, community outreach, and campaign development, with paid youth participation and peer-to-peer awareness efforts.
04 HIV Prevention
Our HIV Prevention Program promotes sexual health and wellness by providing education, resources, and support to LGBTQ+ youth and communities of color. Through open conversations, workshops, and access to prevention tools, we work to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and empower people to make informed choices about their health.
05 Mental Wellness
We recognize mental wellness as an essential part of community health. MNPOC Pride connects LGBTQ+ people of color with information, conversations, partners, and resources that support emotional well-being, from peer support and community conversations to referrals for culturally responsive mental health care. Working with partners such as NAMI Minnesota, we create affirming spaces where people can talk openly and find support.
06 Covid Conversations around Mental Health and Wellness
Our COVID-19 Conversations bring the community together around health and wellness, offering a safe space to share experiences, learn accurate information, and build strategies for staying healthy. These conversations focus on prevention, recovery, and overall well-being, empowering LGBTQ+ people of color with the knowledge and resources they need to protect themselves and their loved ones.
07 Community Resources: Housing & Essentials
Our Community Resources program connects individuals and families with the tools, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. We help community members find housing support and shelter options, food assistance, and essential items like hygiene products, clothing, school supplies, and backpacks, along with holiday support through Toys for Tots. We also connect people to safe sex materials, health care referrals, mental health services, and workforce programs, all in partnership with local organizations that center the needs of LGBTQ+ people of color.
08 Rainbow Roots × 20 Pastures Farm: Growing Black Farmers (Fiscally Sponsored Project)
Rainbow Roots is partnering with 20 Pastures Farm in Deephaven, MN to give Black youth hands-on agricultural education. Participants build farming knowledge, workforce readiness, and awareness of careers in agriculture, rooted in community and pride. Donations support program activities, supplies, transportation, and supervised learning on the farm. This project is fiscally sponsored by Minnesota People of Color LGBT Pride (MNPOC Pride). Donations are received and administered by MNPOC Pride, which retains a 10% fiscal sponsorship fee; the remaining 90% supports approved project expenses.
